Chijioke Asomugha

Chijioke Asomugha

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Chijioke leverages 15 years of experience in business strategy, supply chain management, mergers & acquisitions and private equity. He is passionate about cultivating inspirational leaders and building vibrant business cultures in industries ripe for innovation. As an experienced executive, Chijioke understands how investing in ideas, people and technology can produce extraordinary results in business.

Prior to founding The Inkwell Group, Chijioke was Executive Vice President and Global Head of Corporate Development for ERICO International, a management owned industrial manufacturer. He helped lead the sale of the Company for $1.8 billion in 2015. Prior to his time at ERICO, Chijioke spent several years in private equity and investment banking, working at Cyprium Investment Partners and Goldman Sachs.

Chijioke is a founding board member of two urban charter schools and was recognized by Crain’s Business as a Forty under 40 awardee. He is a board member of the Asomugha Foundation, which focuses on urban and vocational education in under-served communities in the US and Africa. Chijioke received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Economics and Public Policy from Stanford University and his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, where he was a Robert Toigo Fellow.

Marques leverages 12 years of private equity investing, strategy development, and corporate finance experience. He has dedicated his career to working with entrepreneurs help create sustainably successful businesses, primarily at the lower end of the middle market. Marques champions building inclusive teams and driving business growth through innovation. He is passionate in his belief that inclusion leads to greater returns and higher employee satisfaction.

Prior to founding The Inkwell Group, Marques was Senior Vice President leading small business product and strategy for Key Bank. He was instrumental in developing engaging commercial strategies to support business owners and the communities where they operate. Prior to his time at Key Bank, Marques spent several years in private equity and strategic management consulting at the Riverside Company, HIG Capital, and McKinsey & Co.

Marques serves as an advisory board member of the Cleveland Early College High School. Marques holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Morehouse College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies.

The Inkwell Executive Suite is composed of Operating Partners who serve on our portfolio company boards, executive teams and as industry advisors to our firm. Creating a balanced reflection of leadership enables us to attract accomplished women and minority executives to support our companies.

Partners of the Executive Suite provide industry specific operating and strategic expertise from their respective fields, while guiding the implementation of value creation strategies in our companies. In addition we provide our Partners and management teams the fundamental resources to propel their leadership ability for the next level of company growth.
